Concrete Slab Lifting & Slab Jacking FAQ’s
What is slab lifting?

Slab lifting is the process of raising and re-levelling sunken or uneven concrete slabs. Mainmark lifts slabs by injecting an expanding engineered resin beneath the concrete to fill voids, strengthen the ground, and lift the slab back to level with precision.

What is slab jacking?

Slab jacking (also called concrete lifting or slab raising) is a method used to lift and re-support sinking concrete. Instead of traditional cement grout (mudjacking), Mainmark uses Teretek® resin injection, which expands to compact the soil and lift the slab without adding weight.

What causes concrete slabs to sink?

Concrete slabs typically sink due to soil erosion, voids forming under the slab, poor soil compaction, moisture changes, heavy loads, or long-term settlement. These conditions weaken the ground and cause the slab to drop unevenly.

How does Mainmark lift sunken concrete slabs?

Mainmark uses Teretek® engineered resin, which is injected beneath the slab. The resin expands to fill voids, strengthen weak soils, and lift the slab back to level. The process is fast, clean, non-invasive, and delivered with millimetre accuracy.

Is slab lifting better than replacing the concrete?

Yes. Lifting a sunken slab is usually faster, cheaper, and far less disruptive than pouring new concrete. Replacement also doesn’t fix the underlying ground issues, while slab lifting addresses the cause of the sinking.

How long does slab lifting take?

Most slab lifting jobs are completed in a few hours. There is no excavation, and the area can typically be used immediately after the work is finished.

How long does slab jacking last?

Mainmark’s resin injection delivers long-lasting results because the resin strengthens the ground and stabilises the slab. The material is durable, water-resistant, and does not break down over time.

Can slab lifting fix trip hazards?

Yes. Slab lifting can remove trip hazards caused by uneven concrete, raised edges, or sinking slabs around driveways, paths, patios, and internal floors.

What types of slabs can be lifted?

We raise, re-level and re-support:

  • Driveways

  • Footpaths

  • Internal concrete floors

  • Garage slabs

  • Patio and pool surrounds

  • Warehouse and commercial slabs

  • Factory floors

  • Hardstands

Any concrete slab that has sunk or become uneven can usually be re-levelled.

How much does slab lifting or slab jacking cost?

Costs vary depending on the size of the slab, the extent of sinking, access to the site, and what caused the settlement. Mainmark provides free site inspections to assess the issue and give an accurate quote.

Is resin injection the same as mudjacking?

No. Traditional mudjacking uses a heavy cement slurry, which can add weight and may cause further sinking. Mainmark’s Teretek® resin is lightweight, strong, fast-acting, and provides superior ground improvement and slab lifting results.

When should I call a slab lifting specialist?

You should contact us if you notice:

  • Uneven or sloping concrete

  • Gaps between slabs and walls

  • Cracks in the slab

  • Trip hazards

  • Sinking internal floors

  • Water pooling where it shouldn’t

These are common signs of slab settlement.

Does slab lifting require excavation?

No. Resin injection is non-invasive and does not require excavation, digging, or heavy machinery. Small injection points are used to treat the affected areas.

How quickly can I use my slab after lifting?

Immediately in most cases. The resin cures quickly, allowing normal use of the concrete soon after treatment.
